Chelsea star Eden Hazard is ready to sign a new deal at Stamford
Bridge to make him the highest paid player in the club’s history, according to
reports in Italy.
The Belgian was keen on leaving Chelsea in the summer and
made it clear that he wanted to join La Liga giants Real Madrid following his
performances for Belgium at the World Cup.
The 28-year-old admitted recently
that he ‘dreams’ of moving to the Bernabeu but wouldn’t follow the lead of
Thibaut Courtois in forcing an exit from the Blues. Hazard has made a
blistering start to the Premier League season and speculation that has
intensified that he could be heading to Spain.
However, Chelsea’s record-breaking offer to Hazard has remained on
the table throughout and Gazzetta dello Sport claim the Belgian is ready to
sign it.
The club have offered him a salary of around £300,000-a-week and the
report claims Hazard is minded to accept in the coming weeks.
The news would be
a huge blow to Real Madrid, who had planned on signing Hazard next summer as he
entered the final year of his deal in west London.
However, should Hazard
sign fresh terms it’s testament to the Belgian’s opinion on Maurizio Sarri.
The
Italian has transformed Chelsea’s style of play since his appointment last
summer and has given Hazard far more freedom in the final third.
